The classic cross-sell.

This week we learned from our very own blog why we can’t compete with Amazon, how to effectively cross-sell, and whether or not Facebook is surpassing Google. Oh, and don’t forget to check out the 10 dumbest things businesses buy. If you’ve bought something on the list, don’t worry, we won’t tell anybody about it. The following are some of the most popular Tweets from Doba this week:

2009 Doba Holiday Party and Video

Categories: Doba

Last Wednesday, everybody here at the office took a few hours off from work to ring in the holidays, Doba style. That’s right, we had our annual Doba Holiday party, and let me tell ya… it was epic!

We started off with lunch catered by local favorite Tucanos, which serves Brazilian barbecue. (By the way, if you’re ever in our part of Utah, be sure to fit in a meal from Tucanos or Rodizio into your schedule. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did.) After lunch, the team gathered to hear a short and encouraging year-in-review report from our CEO, Blaine Nielsen. As it turns out, despite the down economy, Doba had a great year. We hired 26 new employees in 2009 and experienced 12% growth over 2008, which we are all pretty excited about.

Blaine also announced that Nate Cottle, Doba Sales Manager, received our Employee of the Year award. Way to go, Nate! (We’ll have more about Nate and his award in a future blog post.) Continue reading »

Top Tweets for (Last) Week

In case you haven’t heard, Twitter is kind of a big deal. In fact, it was officially the most popular word in the English language in 2009, beating out contenders like “Barack Obama,” “H1N1,” and “stimulus.” Twitter was built for microblogging, and has 20 million users publishing 140-character messages all day, every day.

Doba’s elite team of Education and Marketing Operatives scours Twitter and the rest of the web daily for the latest news, views, opinions and research related to online marketing and small business / start-up entrepreneurship. The best of the best, we package into our own “tweets” to share with our Twitter followers. Every Friday, here on the blog, I’ll share with you our most popular tweets from the previous week. Enjoy!

(Quick note: We do realize that today is Monday. Trust me, this post will happen on Fridays in the future)
